What medical and travel problems could expatriates and travelers face in Russia and FSU?
While living or traveling in Russia and FSU, you might face a medical emergency or just need to get routine medical care.
We can help if you:
- Do not know which clinic to go to or which doctors to trust, or how to call an ambulance? How can you do this if you do not speak the language?
- You have medical insurance but do not know how to use it in Russia.
- Your medical condition is serious and you need to be transported to an appropriate hospital in your home country or in the closest European country.
- You documents and money are stolen, and you need to get back to your home city or country.
- You need urgent travel information or language assistance in a critical situation.

Global Voyager Assistance (GVA) is here to help you with all your healthcare and travel needs in Russia and FSU.
GVA is an independent assistance company that can refer you to a clinic or a medical professional that will help you to the best of their ability in your medical situation.
GVA can also evaluate the appropriateness of treatment and assess the need for medical transportation (evacuation or repatriation).
GVA can act as a liaison between you and a clinic or a doctor in Russia, and other interested parties such as:
- your doctor in your home country
- your employer, or
- your insurance company
We can give recommendations to your employer or insurance company regarding the best ways of organizing medical services for your particular situation. When it is required, GVA has a medical team and air ambulance ready to fly you out of any location in Russia to any location in the world. Every year, GVA performs on average 200 medical evacuations. By number of evacuations performed from Moscow, GVA is Number One.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
- 24-hour Medical Emergency response. GVA maintains a 24-hour Alarm Center ready to respond to any medical Emergency.
- Access to all professional medical and medical assistance resources of GVA. A client contacting GVA gets professional assistance from Moscow Alarm Center staff, which consists of 80 multilingual assistance, claims handling and medical specialists, including seven doctors, mostly anesthesiologists and rsuscitators.
- Arrangement of medical transportation from any location in Russia or FSU. Depending on a client’s medical situation and location, GVA can arrange transportation by an ambulance, by commercial flight, helicopter or by air ambulance. GVA can rely on the fleet of professional international air ambulance providers, ground ambulances, and helicopters (at certain locations).
- Medical referrals to clinics, hospitals, physicians and dentists for the whole of Russia and the Former Soviet Union countries. GVA has developed an extensive database of medical providers, consisting of the best available facilities and doctors at each location, both local and international.
- Arrangement of English-speaking doctor’s visit or doctor’s dispatch to client’s location, where possible. GVA can arrange a visit of an English-speaking doctor to your location in Moscow, or dispatch a GVA doctor to a remote location in Russia/CIS for assessment of the medical situation and the need of medical transportation.
- Free phone emergency medical advice by a GVA Alarm Center doctor.
- Medical monitoring of treatment provided at clinics and hospitals. If a client is hospitalized in Russia and FSU, GVA can distantly monitor medical treatment provided and co-ordinate it with a client’s family, insurance company or employer, if required.
- Dispatch of medication to client’s location in Russia. When not available on-site, GVA can arrange dispatch of medication to a client’s location in Russia or FSU.
- Repatriation of Mortal Remains. In case of the death out of the client’s home city or country, GVA can arrange repatriation of mortal remains to the place chosen by client’s family.
- Medical Claims Handling & Direct processing of Hospital bills to insurer (When possible). GVA can provide notification to a client’s insurance company and verification of insurance benefits to a hospital. GVA can also obtain pre-authorization of treatment from the insurance company and can issue a guarantee of medical expenses to a hospital followed by the payment of the bill to a hospital on behalf of an insurance company or employer.

- Pre-trip Immunization information (for Russia, other countries of FSU, or worldwide)
- NEW! Pharmaceuticals and drugs– search of Russian brand names for your western pharmaceuticals and drugs brand names.
Travel & lifestyle informational support:
- Information about hotels (Moscow, St-Petersburg, other major cities in Russia) and agencies offering hotel discounts
- Information about fitness clubs (Moscow, St-Petersburg)
- Information about real estate agencies (rent of apartments) (Moscow, St-Petersburg)
- NEW! ‘Survival’ Information – GVA can assist in proving urgently required information regarding Russian companies, goods or services publicly available (though Yellow Pages and various Russian directories, internet or GVA database)
Language & legal informational support:
- Assistance for translation to major European languages (Short ‘survival’ verbal telephone translation between Russian and English can be provided FREE on the phone in urgent, critical situations)
- Referrals to official translation/notarized translation services in Moscow and St-Petersburg
- Detailed translation of medical documents – on a fee-for-services basic
- Informational support in case of lost documents and money outside of the home country
- Referral to security services

- Corporate Annual Membership (51-100 employees) – € 2,000 per company
- Corporate Annual Membership (over 100 employees) – upon request
